Philippine Airlines (PAL) has selected IBS Software's cloud-based iCargo platform to replace its current cargo system, with the implementation set to cover both domestic and international cargo operations.

IBS Software said the deployment will support PAL's modernisation programme and extend iCargo's capabilities across the airline's full range of business functions. The platform is intended to handle cargo movements in domestic and international operations, including international requirements such as customs reporting, duties and taxes settlement and regulatory compliance.

According to IBS Software, iCargo is already used by carriers with a similar combination of domestic and international demands, and offers the flexibility, scale and capabilities needed to manage both.

PAL expects the transition to address key operational requirements in its cargo business, including system performance and data analytics. IBS Software said the platform would support faster shipment processing, greater reliability and end-to-end shipment visibility while reducing manual intervention and enabling more efficient processes.

Jason Siy, vice president for cargo business at Philippine Airlines, described the initiative as an important step in modernising the carrier's cargo business. He said PAL needs a system that increases visibility and improves operational efficiency as it grows across its domestic and international network, adding that the airline aims to deliver a better customer experience.

Siy said PAL sees iCargo as a key enabler of its long-term cargo transformation strategy and its ambition to build a stronger cargo business in the future.
